I nicknamed a friend, Mr Q, as “god of investment”. Two months ago, I advised him not to invest in a downtrend stock. Somehow, I was right. That stock plunged 40% then rebounded about 20%. I met Mr Q during Chinese New Year. Instead of thanking me for my advice, Mr Q said he should have bought the stock at the lowest point and pocketed 20% of gain then. Further, he said we should buy shares of all the glove manufacturers before the outbreak of Covid-19. Mr Q is more godlike than Warren Buffet when come to investing. What makes Mr Q especially fascinating to me is the way he uses the word “should.” I should have taken the advice of Confucius – while respecting spiritual beings, a wise man should keep aloof from them.
